Welcome to Carrving Trails Starting Late, Carrying Weight, Moving Forward

I’m Clint—and if you found this blog, you’re probably looking for something real. So here it is:

I didn’t grow up an athlete. I wasn’t born into endurance. I started at 46, after life punched me square in the face. A bad business decision forced me to reset everything—career, finances, pride. I needed a release, something hard, something honest. So I picked up a ruck and started walking.

That first GORUCK event wasn’t about growth. It was punishment. I wanted to hurt. I wanted to carry the weight—physically and mentally. But somewhere between the push-ups and the silence, I found something more. I found space. I found strength. I found the trail.

Then came Green Beret Fitness events. Solo miles through the mountains. And somewhere in there, I stopped looking for pain and started looking for peace.

Why This Blog Exists

Carrving Trails is about starting over—literally and figuratively. It’s about carrying your own weight, not just in a ruck, but in life. It’s for people who started late. Who failed. Who got back up. Who still believe in the value of discomfort and doing hard things.

I’m not here to preach. I’m not here to sell you a training plan. I’m here to share what it’s like to chase peace and purpose one step at a time—on dirt, under load, in real life.

What to Expect Here

  • Event recaps (GORUCK, GBF, and more)
  • Trail rucking stories and lessons learned
  • Gear I’ve used, abused, and trust
  • Reflections on life, failure, and progress

I don’t have it all figured out. But I’m moving forward. And if you’re doing the same—whether you’re carrying a pack, a burden, or both—then welcome.

Let’s carve new trails, together.
